THE JONES AESTHETICS
This work is a personal approach to the viewer about the conceptual art that an artist can take from a stage, there are singers, actors and models that succeed by talent, but sometimes they end up to be saturated by encasement, others remain to be innovative when they are trained from creative audiovisual people for originality of the shows; Madonna, in the 80's dominated the world freeing the self-esteem of young people repressed by the conservative society, it was easy for young people to understand and analyze her concept thanks her corporal imitation of greats movie stars; they are known and admired those stories, and so reminded us the ego and power of each of these Stars who came out on top: the dream of all.
But there was another artist who was quite the opposite, I mean it was incomprehensible: Grace Jones: it was a completely anti-social, a free imitation figure without identification, the audience rejected his art, this character grew on me to explore the fascinating concept that allowed me to do my work for that confused audience, here's my visual theory:
THE JONES AESTHETICS - A FRIGHTENING BEAUTY WOMAN
WHY GRACE JONES?
I want to clarify that I have been a fan of three voices: Donna Summer, Grace Jones and Nina Hagen, but the latter woman together with Nina Hagen were for me as the antonyms of Donna, as voices between good and evil, the difference between Nina and Grace are on this latter diva was the concept that I raised in my work to see here, Nina for me was like the grotesque Bette Davis in the movie "Whatever Hapened with Baby Jane" in version Pop: extremely corporal and influential.
Grace Jones - so I think - was a Jamaican girl who lived her childhood as God brought to the world, naked among the natural beauty of the island, free as a bird, reaching the height of the sky to find herself, free of all social prejudices and moral; yes, like a bird, there is no representation of victim: is freedom. Throughout her career as model, singer and actress was a feared and powerful image; her voice and body required me to analyze her style, her sensitivity was sharp and sudden, every move seemed a facial evil possession, his eyes rolled like a robot, her possessive look scraped us like a manipulated puppet: Who was she? ... or was it then?
I started to listening her skin, to understand her "freedom": this genius on the stage was just like a story, something like "The Apocalypse" a Little Grace, with her bright blue skin, was born and lived in an island between myth and magics, growing up as a mannequin full of power to maintain her humanity in this chaotic and morality world where we live, so here are my paintings: they represents the time, religion, sexuality, illness and death: the life itself ...a frightening beauty image. her deformity was so pure that I confirmed her superhuman personality and artistically, the tiny silhouette woman manipulated us emotionally and others to refuse to see the other side.
